New Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act: Wider Discretion and Greater Risks for Managers of Endowment Funds

Effective June 10, 2009, the New Jersey Legislature adopted the Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Fuds Act to govern charitable endowment funds, thereby repealing the Uniform Management of Institutional Funds Act, which had governed charitable endowment funds since 1975.

Horizon Settlement of Class Action Over Eating Disorder Coverage is Approved

A federal judge gave final approval Tuesday to a class action settlement that requires Horizon Blue Cross of New Jersey to expand benefits for 1.5 million eating disorder patients and pay up to $2.45 million to the plaintiffs' lawyers.

Final OK Sought For Settlement In Eating Disorder Suit 

The lead plaintiffs in a class action against Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey Inc. over the way the insurer handles coverage for eating disorders have asked a federal judge to grant final approval to a settlement valued at more than $19 million, including over $1.2 million in reimbursements for denied claims.
