New Jersey Familial Dysautonomia Lawyers

Representing Parents of Children With Familial Dysautonomia

Familial dysautonomia (FD), also called Riley-Day syndrome, is a genetic disease commonly found in the Ashkenazi Jewish population. Proper medical practice requires screening for familial dysautonomia, and you were not informed that your child would be born with the disease, you may be able to seek compensation through a wrongful birth lawsuit.

Nagel Rice, LLP, obtained $2.4 Million in a wrongful birth case involving negligent genetic testing. Click here to review more wrongful birth/wrongful life verdicts and settlements.

Contact Nagel Rice in New Jersey at 973-618-0400 if you believe your child's genetic condition should have been discovered prior to birth. Our lawyers will help you hold the negligent party responsible for your child's wrongful birth.

What Is Familial Dysautonomia (FD)?

Familial dysautonomia affects the autonomic and sensory nervous systems and can cause serious complications such as:

  • Poor regulation of body temperature and blood pressure
  • Inability to swallow and digest food normally
  • Poor muscle tone (babies born with FD are frequently referred to as "floppy")
  • Poor breathing
  • Poor reaction to pain, and hot and cold temperatures

This life-threatening disease can cause extensive suffering for a child who inherits the genes, and for the child's parents. At Nagel Rice, we are dedicated to helping parents obtain compensation for genetic testing errors. We try cases, and we produce results.

If your doctor failed to diagnose FD, Tay-Sachs disease, Canavan disease, cystic fibrosis or another inherited condition, speak with one of our highly reputable attorneys.
